LOTR, an Essay, whatever


kemaren gw nonton LOTR lagi, for the nth time (I lost count at three I suppose) and still loving every single minute of it.
Biarpun gw udah hapal tiap-tiap adegannya (and to a degree whre I could remember quite a few lines in scene that is...)
I'm still stupefied by how simple and bland the one Ring looks like; I mean it was like a simple wedding ring (Like my mom's, I wonder how this world ends if she has it?)

And one question remained unanswered; What if yours truly have the One Ring?

No, more correctly: What if the Ring fallen to the hands of ordinary person? Apakah efeknya bakalan sama seperti seandainya dia jatoh ke tangan, let say, Superman? (bukannya dia butuh sih)

Apa bedanya seandainya The One Ring ada di tangan Dalai Lama/Mother Theresa/you-get-the-drill sama seandainya dia ada di tangan PM-nya Israel what-his-name-again-that-pathetic-creature/ GW I-spit-upon-his-name Bush

Ato pertanyaan mendasarnya: is there such things like absolute power? And does it indeed corrupts absolutely?

My opinion? Yes.

Semakin besar kekuasaan yang lo punya, semakin besar consequences yang lo dapat dan semakin dekat juga lo pada kehancuran.

Take Bush for example.

His family probably defending him by saying that he is a respectable, honourable, blah-blah man. To some degree maybe he is. But could you him a respectable man when knowing that he indirectly and directly responsible for killing countless civilians, women, children and elderly alike. To kill those who care shit about war and whatever. Putting terrors in their life, giving their children traumas and ripping those children from a happy childhood we all deserved?
USA is a very powerful country, both political and military, and I'm not going to deny that. Dan ketika lo punya kunci ke semua itu dan choose to use it to kill people and putting encouragement in killing, could you still be call 'a respectable and honourable man'?

When you're holding a gun and having the 'fire at will' command at your back yet you choose it to point the blasted thing to those who hold nothing against you, could you still be call human?

Can human be a human when he got no humanity left?

The shows that had the White House celebrating Christmas felt like mockery to me. And I'm not even Christian.

WQonder how he will react if he knew that at the same time there were people who cried over graves, those who killed by his command?

Dia mungkin bilang, he only tried to protect his people.

Bullshit.

Is it justice to protect your peole by killing others? Kita kan bukan serigala (Homo homini lupus, dan even wolves had their pride!!), we're civilized human being for God's sake!!


Bersyukurlah dia gw bukan dukun santet.

And it's no longer an LOTR essay....

But, questions still remained,
If the One Ring (and its equivalent) ever falls into your hands, what will you do? What will you become? What will you do to this world?

The answer my dear friends, define who you are and what value you might have to this world. So please, choose wisely.
